About

The intention behind Ecolution Africa is to establish a platform where solutions for environmental challenges in sub-Sahara Africa are developed in cooperation with the local communities of the affected areas based on sound knowledge of the local ecosystems. Initially, the focus is set on Tanzania and neighboring countries in East Africa, later an expansion to other parts of sub-Saharan Africa is intended.

Ecolution Africa was initiated by Dr. Maximilian Petzold. Between 2008 and 2019, he conducted several research projects in Tanzania covering the fields of stream ecology, functional ecology and ecosystem service-based urban planning. Maximilian has attained comprehensive understanding of the environmental challenges in Tanzania and developed different ideas for their solution. Additionally, he maintains close private relations to Tanzanians. Currently he is working as an environmental planner for an environmental consultancy in Bremen, Germany.
